Inscription:
Here lieth the remains of Captn. Robert Bryan, late of the “Margaret” of Liverpool who unfortunately lost his life in a violent gale of wind on this coast the 24th of March 1810 aged 32 years.
At anchor here my body lies
Till the last trump shall bid it rise
My flesh shall hear the living word
Then quit my tomb to meet the Lord
Dear wife forbear to mourn your loss
The tempests now have ceased to toss,
I’ve launched into the eternal main
Where we must shortly meet again.
This stone is placed here by desire of his disconsolate widow as a tribute of respect.
