Convenient to this stone lie the remains of Edward Sharples a mariner of 19 years of age who was unfortunately drowned on the 11th day of September 1830 at Dundalk Quay. His Captain and friend Captain Peet of the brig Albion of Preston and a number of his brother mariners in consequence of his many good qualities have erected this stone to his memory
