To the memory of Joseph Arthur Coulter of Dowdallshill who died at his residence, Roden Place, Dundalk on the 3rd day of October 1901 aged 66 years.
And also in memory of his wife Elizabeth only daughter of John MacDowell, Builder, Dundalk She was born 10th May 1843 and died 10th September 1928.

Bio:

Joseph Arthur Coulter was the son of Robert Coulter of Dowdallshill and Roden Place. He was a solicitor in Dundalk. In his early years he was working in Canada, the Hudson Bay Company. The company was a fur trading business that went on to be Canada's largest retailers. Coulter was also on the company that esorted Lady Franklin on their last expedition to find her husband Sir John Franklin. The Coulter family are said to have been resident in County Louth for least 8 generations.
